The Owl is a vegan cafe in Barnstaple, North Devon. It is guaranteed Vegan and also strives to serve organic fair trade, and local produce. We also try to cater for those with allergies and intollerances; not just finding something they can eat - but something they can also enjoy. For more about our food see the menu. The Owl is run by Neil Basil, “My food you can cry for - die for. You will eat like you won’t believe. Yes I’m a chef, so therefore arrogant; I’m good, but I have an advantage - I simplify my cooking by not using bits of dead animal. I cook food that everyone can enjoy, and we have little food left (usually none - and we serve good portions) on the plate. Yes, I’m  vegan; but my main deal is to get the carnivores in here - get rid of their prejudice that vegan food is boring or unwholesome”.
